UN is drooling over Big Data
Combine visits UN in New York as part of a Swedish delegation lead by Ann Linde, Minister of EU Affairs and Trade. The delegation consisted of 11 handpicked companies within high tech sustainable solutions where Combine were asked to represented data science and big data solutions.
UN is very interested in using Big Data to reach the Sustainable Development Goals. They hope to use traditional big data sources as log files and social media to measure and evaluate the progress of their programs. The peacekeeping unit were more focused on using big data combined with machine learning as a way of detecting and predicting threat and terror. Several departments were also interested in finding Artificial Intelligence methods to automatically harvest the vast amounts of data generated daily by UN officials in reports from all over the world.
The innovation team at the development program have worked with Big Data for several years trough their Global Pulse initiative and are now focused at scaling. At the same time other departments have not come as far according to Mr.Dmstri Dovgopoly director of procurement. He said that although they are drooling for big data they expect that it will take some years for them to start to implement it.
